2007 Toys for Tots Paint Scheme
Dale Jarrett is one of NASCAR's most admired drivers. What makes him such a legend, in part, is his commitment to his fans – especially the children. Since 2005, Jarrett has served as the honorary spokesperson for The UPS Store/Toys for Tots campaign.
NASCAR fans have played a key role in the success of this campaign, helping The UPS Store and Mail Boxes Etc. network raise more than $1 million for Toys for Tots. These funds have helped the 60-year-old charity deliver more than 37.6 million toys, books and other gifts to nearly 15.1 million children.
"I am proud to be part of the Toys for Tots program again this year," said Jarrett. "In addition to giving kids the chance to design a special The UPS Store/Toys for Tots car, this contest is a great way for parents and teachers to help children learn the importance of reaching out to the less fortunate members of our community, particularly during the holiday season."
In March, kids everywhere spun their creative wheels to "Design Dale's New Ride." The national coloring contest encouraged kids, ages 5-12, to create a new design for the 2007 The UPS Store/Toys for Tots car.
Twelve-year-old Vincent Giacalone from New Jersey took the "championship cup" in the contest. His winning design was chosen from more than 1,500 entries and will appear on the 2007 The UPS Store/Toys for Tots #44 Camry that Jarrett plans to race on October 28 in Atlanta to kick off The UPS Store/Toys for Tots 2007 holiday fund-raising campaign.
According to Vincent, "This contest is about giving presents to kids in need, so why not make the car into a present? I'm a huge NASCAR fan and I'm excited to go to a race and meet Dale Jarrett."
"This winning design is a great way to help Toys for Tots celebrate its 60th anniversary," said Jarrett. "More importantly, I hope this special paint scheme will help draw attention to The UPS Store/Toys for Tots campaign and encourage fans to help deserving kids this holiday season."
The October race will kick off the annual The UPS Store holiday donation drive. Participating The UPS Store locations will offer customers the opportunity to purchase a Toys for Tots pledge card for only $1, with all proceeds going to support local Toys for Tots activities. "Over the past two years, the fans came out in full force to support our Toys for Tots campaign," Jarrett said. "This year, we're hoping to raise even more money to brighten the holidays for as many children as possible."
