2008 Dale Jarrett All-Star Paint Scheme
Since their introduction to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series over seven years ago, one thing has been a constant to UPS and its employees - their driver, NASCAR champion Dale Jarrett.
After a 24-year career that has been filled with accomplishments worthy of filling dozens of highlight reels, Jarrett will climb behind the wheel one final time at the May 17th running of the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord, N.C. The 1999 Sprint Cup Series Champion announced his retirement in October 2007, committing to run the first five points series events of 2008 as well as two exhibition races including the All-Star event.
To honor Jarrett and his storied career, UPS has designed a special paint scheme that will cover the #44 UPS Toyota when the driver takes to the track for the final time. The paint scheme features a metallic gold design uniting the past with the present.
On the hood, fans will recognize the familiar stripes seen on the #44 UPS Toyota but take a close look at the rear of the car and take a step back in time as the striping resembles the same design seen on the #88 Quality Care entry which Jarrett drove during his 1999 championship season. In the background of the car's finish, different images from momentous accomplishments in Jarrett's career will be spotlighted.
The #44 Toyota will not be Dale's only mode of transportation on Saturday, May 17 though as the driver will finally get his opportunity to "Race the Truck." Over the past seven years, UPS, through its wildly popular "Race the Truck" advertising campaign, has pleaded with Dale to trade in his race car for a spin in the UPS truck. Their persistence has paid off as Jarrett will drive the UPS Race Truck around the 1.5-mile speedway prior to the start of the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race.
With the activities planned for the All-Star event, UPS and Jarrett's loyal fans will have the opportunity to pay tribute to one of the sport's shining stars. Thanks Dale. It's been a great ride.
